Od slackline k tiché radosti – book by Anča Kuchařová (in Czech)

A breathtaking book about one lifelong passion.

From Slackline to Quiet Joy

About walking a line a thousand metres up, where an unexpected inner strength awakens. Eight years of a life in which a girl becomes a woman, choosing between what she likes and what she loves. After her first trembling steps high above the ground, she leaps into a daring life. A whirlwind of adventure takes her across Europe and America, where she meets people who fascinate her. But what dazzles her most is the steady vibration of the thin webbing under her feet, on which her life depends. How can the human body walk on thin air? What happens to her mind as she overcomes her own ego? And what awaits her in the altered state of consciousness that the rhythmic walk through the space between the rocks brings her into?

Who is Anča Kuchařová?

An architect who quit her job to become a tightrope walker and slackliner. She has walked lines on four continents, above desert, sea and glacier, up to a kilometre above the ground. She is the best Czech woman in the sport, briefly held the European record and has long been among the world's best. She organises and takes part in international slackline projects. She founded the Slackline Academy and was president of the Czech Slackline Association for four years. She was the first to spend 24 hours on a line without a break, and up in the air she even said "yes" to one wonderful man.
