3 reasons why slacklining is a great sport
It works your muscles
Slackline isn’t just another fun modern sport. It’s also a perfect way to stretch the muscles of your whole body. Walking a line has been shown to strengthen your postural muscles – the muscles directly responsible for good posture. It helps you develop both static and dynamic balance and strengthens the centre of your body, the so-called “core”. It’s a perfect complement to other sports where balance comes in handy – running, skiing, cycling. It also helps prevent injuries. Simply put, on a slackline you’ll stretch and strengthen muscles you didn’t even know you had. After your first attempts on the line, they’ll definitely let you know they’re there, don’t worry :)
It works your mind
Slackline also improves concentration. When you’re walking a line, especially at the limit of your slacklining abilities, you simply have no time to think about anything else. There’s only the webbing, the space around you and your body trying to stay on the line. It’s simply a great way to clear your head.
Kids love it too
Walking a slackline is a gentle and fun way to improve children’s motor skills. Kids can take their first steps on a line from around the age of 5, but it’s always a good idea to help them by holding them. Older kids, around 10, can already walk shorter lines on their own. We recommend starting on really short lines, up to 3 metres long, rigged just 30 cm above the ground. Read more about slacklining with kids in this article.
